Hi guys,

Couldn't find anything to do online and decided to go to old websites that I have long forgotten. I was so surprised to see that this blog is still active till today. I really miss the times during air rifle training. I miss my pistol. LoL. Take care. Best wishes.

Hey people, you know what ? I MISS BEING IN AIR RIFLE !!!

Haiz. Was looking through JJ shooting club friendster profile and although it was the juniors that set up the account, it was still nice to see people enjoying themselves.

I would do anything to turn back time, to taste the fun we had during the time in ARC. Miss running around the school compound at night playing hide-and-seek and the messing around and slacking off during trainings.

Would it be remotely possible that we have an ARC gathering at the end of the year ? I guess not, but I really hope so.

It has been a really, really long time since anyone last posted here (wb's last tiny update not included). So, how is everyone doing ? I guess this blog is really on it's way to some serious degradation with nobody updating or reading it, sad to say.

Is anyone even there at all ? Hmmmz... Say something ! Tell us something new ! Update us about your new lives after JJ. New boy/girlfriend ? New job ? Hate school ? Hate NS ? Anything !

Where are you guys ? Xiwen ? TTH ? Kaiyan ?

It is a simple, straightfoward (and pretty stupid) logic that those who miss something will think about it from time to time. Every once in a while, i would check by this blog hoping for new updates from people other than me. Anyone. Be it as a post, or in the form of a quick tag. Sometimes i wonder who still visits this blog, and you never will know.

Down the road, will you remember that you once belonged to a small but special club called Shooting Club?

I miss :

Weibin's "sucker !"
TTH's "cheeeebye !!"
Ber's "Nabei lah !"
XW's whistling
Candice's "you'll regret that !"
PS' pranks
SY's witty remarks
KY's weird sense of humour
Shun's sarcasm
Weida's nonsense
Mingkang's junior attraction factor
Chern hoe's lame jokes
Daren's morbidness
Huifang's silent determination
Edna's enthusiasm
Cindy's quietness
Yvonne's bubbly-ness

The stressful times in major competitions
The fun we had in mini competitions
The nonsense we did in the stuffy JJ range
The cards we kept playing during our free time

And most of all, I miss being in JJ ARC. Thanks for all the lovely memories guys.

Yup it had been long, but not anymore :). So glad that that i won't be the only one posting here. It took me a few seconds to register your entry and the shock that someone else actually posted. Honestly, i didn't expect anyone to post much here anymore, and it was a pleasant surprise indeed, although i won't be surprised if its just you and me running the show here.

Ahhhh, many things were indeed taken away when NS came knocking. Not that it was unexpected, but just that it took away one too many. Some just shrugged it off, some were severely affected by it, while there were yet others who didn't even notice it. Many quoted the same reason : "Its inevitable, when it comes, all you can do is obey, and tolerate for 2 years."

For most, the most obvious item that is lost is their freedom. No longer do they have the freedom to do what they want, go where they want or sometimes even to the extend of saying what they want. But thats just the tip of the iceburg. Its not as though the army is the perfect example of efficiency and discipline, although it is often seen in the eyes of many that such values are the foundations of its success. Much of what is written in theory is often not practiced. Further comments shall be withheld as it is not advisable (at least to me) to open them to the public.

Somehow, NS did really push into me the cold truth about how truly pragmatic the world is, how some people would do things, and by things i meant anything, so as to prevent their ass from being handed back to them. As though they are the only people in the whole universe. Maybe they are. In their own pathethic world.

I've always been an idealistic person, and i'm not gonna let NS snuff that part of me out. Never. On the brighter side, NS had already been shortened to 2 years. Then, those dumb little things we used to do, things that had no real meaning until now, will return to us. Its like that the dim light at the end that keeps people going, no matter how dim, how hard and perilous the trials are. I'll be waiting for you there. Constantly searching indeed

Remember how you felt when you first took aim with the rifle? Remember the adrenaline rush, the sweat dropping, the voice inside your mind as you tell yourself to concentrate while you are desperately trying hard to focus your gaze on the round target just 10 metres in front of you? Remember the tense moments at the inter school shoot? The thumping heart, the anxiety before and after every shot, the urge to look over to you side and look at the other's shot, whether you had scored a 10.1 or not? Remember the graceful notion when you cocked the rifle and followed the systematic actions as you readied yourself for yet another shot?

Such a long time had passed since i last had such feelings. Almost a year. It was a great experience, one that can never be replaced. Not even with another gun (the M-16). It is not even comparable. There is just no such passion whatsoever with that particular firearm. I would much rather wield an air rifle than hold a M-16!! Of course, it wouldn't feel right if i were to train beside other people. Not without the usual kowbeh sessions with TTH and ber and gang~ and also the 'ocassional' suanning of people. =D

It'll be another 2 years before i'll get the chance to hold another air weapon again. Then again, would i still be able to retain the passion and join the air weapons club when i enter university? Only time will tell. And other alternatives are already starting to pop up in my head.

Time to blow some life into this 'dead' blog. Need someone to blow some life into mine too. Its been long since someone last posted, let me see, 7 months? All manners of stuff happened since then for everyone in the club. Part time jobs, A lvl results, camps, army enlistment, periods of petrification at home, uni application, going out, clubbing, pubbing, having fun, depression, taking courses, gaming, remembering friends (and forgetting them too) etc

Guess almost everyone else had forgotten this neat little club that we once shared together. Maybe its because all of us have very different characters and personalities and some just don't simply click together, thereafter we follow our own little paths after the inter-schools. We had simply moved on with our lives and are most likely very busy with it, be it busy slacking or what not. I've only really had recent contact with a very minute group of ppl from arc now, namely candice, tth, ber and gim (not ranked in any other haha). Hope the rest of you guys are doing well out there....NOT!!! WHAHAHA!! joking =/
For those who didn't know, our juniors got the 2nd for the west zone (rifle guys only). Always falling short of expectations huh? Nice try nevertheless. Seriously wonder if Mr. Oh is saying the same things to them as he did to us..hrm..food for thought.

Anybody want to go out? I'm getting too idlelistic at home and if you dont' already know, i don't really like to be home alone. Too bad i'm not a couch potato and the TV doesn't work wonders on me like it does on some of you guys out there. I can't stay glued to it for more than...1 hour plus? heh...oh..and er, don't ask me to go out alone, thats the most pointless thing to do yea? Any sensible activity will do just fine =). Its just too bad for me that the next semester for university is starting, which means that less people will be free to go out. Dang~~ Sushi buffet anyone? Eating's a good thing too! :D

I guess i'm just too free huh? Always desiring to go out, but when i actually have the chance, no one's free. So if you're free, feel free to drop me a line or ask me out =). Bahh...its getting too 'early', gotta go to bed...Ja~

I think not many people are going to read this but I'm going to say this anyway. I'm blardy pissed with the response of the people towards the chalet. I either had lukewarm or no response. WTF is this ?! I think I'm going to make a loss with regards to the booking fee of the chalet and IT IS NOT CHEAP. Whose fault is it ? Mine ? yea, for being too enthusiastic about organizing this. Considering cancelling the booking already, if less than 15 people can make it.

Ok ppl, I've booked the chalet from 20th-22th of December. It's a 3 days 2 nights thing and EVERYONE is required to pay $20 to cover the initial costs. Yes I know some of you are gonna grumble about the high costs but the balance (if any) will be returned accordingly. Collecting 2 different payments for those staying and not staying will prove to be disastrous as some cannot be confirmed and moreover, I need to pay my friend who helped us book the chalet ASAP. Thanks a lot. Hope to see you all there ;)

Hmmmmz.. So I guess this might be it. Might spell the end of chalet for us. Perhaps the best we can manage now is to have a barbeque at someone's place or ECP then we can go night cycling all night or something. So anyone got somewhere better ? Air rifle has come to an end for most of us (except xiwen that is). No more trainings, lectures by coach, skipping cultural lessons for trainings, crap sessions in the range, smelly jackets on fans, whistling, soccer behind the lanes, broken fishing lines, getting target cards stuck, "cease fire !",  spats over functional lanes and such. Hahaz. Thanx people. You certainly gave me loads of memories. Really glad that some of us got to know each other better this year, it was great !

Come to think of it, was joining air rifle the best or the worst thing that happened in your jc life ? To some, shooting is something that you have to do because you've joined ARC, but I think to most, it has become a love. A love which we have to give up, be it temporarily or permanently, while we pursue what we came to jc for, A levels.

Now we do not have investiture like the student council where there was closure, we just stop. Somehow I feel that we're left hanging in the air while our wednesdays and saturdays are unusually free. What has become routine now turned out to be, well, gone.

Time spent on CCA should now be spent on books but I guess this needs some getting used to. Used to find trainings some kind of obligation, something that needs to be done but not necessarily enjoyed but now I actually miss trainings. Though it has been a little more than a week since I last touched my rifle, I feel that I haven't touched it in ages. Did it ever occur to you that we might never touch an air gun for the rest of our lives ? If you don't consider taking it up next time due to monetary, time or practicality constraints that is. Hmmmz...

Don't you feel like a part of your jc life just ended ? Now there's nothing much left to look forward to every week (except fridays and weekends). Anywayz, let's not focus on what we've lost but what we've gained from all this. =) Which is friends and lessons which we can incorporate into our lives. That, as what Mr Oh said, is the point of a CCA.

Study well people. =)

finally... all those trainings that we all have been training for, are going to surface.. all our hard work will not go to waste.. well... just to tell u all some psychology stuff that worked for me..

1st... u all must have faith and believe in urself that u will perform no matter wad happens.. deep down in ur heart... u will have to believe... just keep believing... and u can go on...~

u all think its like all crap.. but its the mental strength u possess that matters.. just try it tml.. i am sure that it will work

2nd... stay focused... concentrate... look at the sight picture... if its not clear... put it down... breathe slowly... ensuring that ur brain is full of oxygen... it helps u to gain a clearer picture of sight picture..

3rd.. no matter wad happens... stay calm... if u panic... *gone case ok~ so... as i had said... u just have to believe that YOU CAN DO IT OK... close ur eyes... breathe slowly... imagine that u are doing well... keep going.. and all ur obstacles will diminish... just keep believing...

well... good luck tml... remember... U CAN DO IT! :)

There's a very subtle difference between sorry and apologise. To apologise is to make excuse for or regretful acknowledgment of a fault or offense while to be sorry is to feel or express sympathy, pity, or regret for that fault or offense.

So, here it goes...no hard feelings.

I apologise for the 'hard feelings' caused by the the complaining, but i'm not sorry. :D Everyone is entitled to their opinion and boy, you should be glad that people actually express their views here rather than gossip and bitch behind your back. Actually, in my previous post ( or all the other complains IMO) , it wasn't really targeted at anyone, just everyone in general. If you have a clear conscience, there's nothing to fear. You can't really blame us for getting pissed off, wouldn't u IF you're in our place? I'm just going to leave it here, and just a reminder for you, its not just the steamboat, and leave the flaws in your book. ^^

SORRY

Boonz we're not blaming you for the failure of the outing. Really. I know how you feel about your mom and stuff, I'm somehow experiencing that too. Notice that since my mom came back I've been rather tamed ? Yea so anywayz, I as part of the organizers of the outing, failed to inform everyone. I made the fatal mistake of ASSUMING that people will pass the message. I'm sorry. Sorry for being so disorganized. Though we must live with the fact that shooting club can never be as bonded as other sports, we should maybe at least leave together. Enthusiasm, of course is not measured by the number of outings but perhaps could be roughly gauged at the response of people to the knowledge of impending outings. I've had lukewarm response and suffice to say that it was disappointing. SMS apparently is not very effective as it can stop at some point, what was worst was that people do not respond to this kind of sms. No RSVP whatsoever. Lesson learnt here is : to tell EVERY SINGLE one of outings (if there should be any in the future) by word of mouth and preferably when everyone is gathered.

Really hope no feelings are hurt by the anger ignited by the failure of the outings. Everyone is at fault. And to prevent further failures of outings, I doubt there will be any more until after the As. Hopefully, and HOPEFULLY it will be a success. Boonz I'm really sorry I've been coming late for almost everything. Sorry sorry sorry. Man I just realized I'm like almost always late nowadays. The bus hates me. Nono, I should probably leave the house earlier. Don't be so stressed k ? Everything will be over soon.

The end is nigh.

By the way, the blog has never been so active ! Hahahahz... Cool. Some controversy and high emotions can really turn things up.

yah, the outing flopped... but i don't think you can really blame anyone. based on my side of the story, the outing hit me as a surprise when chern hoe phone me on tuesday night...

the following is the conversation:

ch: so how? you going?
mk: huh? go where?
ch: AR outing loh.
mk: got meh? how come i not informed? go where?
ch: steamboat loh? you going a not?
mk: i don't think so.. got class chalet..
ch: ok loh.. i also not going, got something on.. ok loh, bye.
mk: bye.

this was how i got to know about the AR outing... two nights before the event... you don't really expect people to change their plans at the last minute just to accomodate this right.. you may not agree with me.. but too bad... the number of people who attend the outing speaks for itself... better luck next time.

-
by Roger Cheng @ 6/26/2004 03:27:00 pm

Define flop? Simply saying its a failure, with the strings of an 'unlucky' element attached.

To put it straightforward, that outing was just a little short of a complete failure. Flop? nah..thats too mild. Mr. Oh kept saying that the cca is one that doesn't really bond its members together, but when given the chance, nobody wants to do anything. I think its become more of a habit.

Whenever there's training, the pistol team will be the first to shoot finish and conveniently leave. Whenever we want to go out, budget comes straight to the mind. This's outing's just as expected. All manner of excuses fly out of people's mouths. I guess when people don't FEEL like going, anything and everything can be an excuse.

Everytime i go out with the AR people, its the usual few, namely me tth and gimly. Haha, and we did went for the outing, with the addition of shun fu and LPS. Had originally intended to go for steamboat, but its pretty pointless to go steamboating with 5 people. And alas, the steamboat sank, along with our hopes for an AR outing (to date, there had been no real AR outing for this batch..kinda sad).

We actually had quite a good few laughs, and i'm starting to actually think that it doesn't really matter if there's more people. Thinking about how people are not spontaneous enough to go acutally dampens the mood. The trio will just talk among themselves, pistol team...ok lets not start on the topic...

Lets just hope for the best...

- Flop? nonono...thats an understatement...

Define flopped. Where 5 people out of 18 turned up for shooting club outing. Supposed to go for steamboat with the J2s for our first and probably last outing but it turned out to be an outing for 5 people. Hahahz. Major "floppation" despite the fact that we told everyone our plans eons ago. How sad. This just proves the fact that the shooting club people have not gelled enough and are not enthusiastic and spontaneous enough to go for outings. So weibin, te hao, shunfu, poh sheng and me (if you don't know who am I, shame on you) went for dinner at wb and sf's territory i.e Tiong Bahru market for dinner and thence to Orchard for a game of pool. Though it was an outing for only the 5 of us, there were endless streams of laughter and the quintessential "suaning" sessions. 4 outta 5 were rifle shooters, 1 outta 5 is a girl (though the other guys didn't seem to acknowledge the fact that I'm a girl). Does it somehow represent the fact that pistol shooters are rather anti-social (probably to shooting club people) and girls are, well, too busy or not allowed to get out of the house ?

Anywayz, there is still less than 2 weeks to our major competition. *gasp* Time flies doesn't it ? Good luck people. Hope school reopening will not claim the lives of any of you (though I'm not sure if I will survive being hounded by teachers for my holiday homework for I have not done ANY).

Third week of holidays is ending ! Very soon the MOE shoot will be approaching and hence the conclusion of our stint in JJ shooting club. Sad huh ? Time is passing faster than a speeding pellet (hahahz) and now it's time to spam pellets ! Spam like never before and then we will leave our beloved guns for good.

About the basic courtesy thing, you cannot blame anyone for not knowing when and what to do at times. Let's just hope those people will come to their senses. Or knock some into them if you can manage. hahaz..

Does anyone reckon that this blog will continue to survive long after this batch ended ? Will it just be a place for tth and wb to voice their opinions ? Or will it fall into disrepair and ultimately the death of the rifle blog ? Hmmmz... only time will tell. Certainly hope that this will continue, perhaps as a venue to keep in contact or something. No doubt that it will be much quieter after the guys have gone NS. hahahz.. But no matter, it has been shortened so keep your chin up guys ! =)

Cheers people. Enjoy the rest of your holidays. We need one last (or maybe a few more) shooting club outing before it all hits the fan.

Last saturday marked the beginning of the end. It was the end of the 2nd last major competition for us J2s in the Air Rifle club. During the course of the 2 day competition, some of us fared well while others flopped. I believe all of us have the ability to do well, but perhaps due to undue stress brought about by none other than Mr. Oh, it has caused many a disappointment

I think he's a nag, he shouldn't be adding on to the stress to the shooters (which he always does). Fancy telling bernard and shun fu that its between them hours before their detail. Fancy pointing fingers at the teams and literally telling them you've tried, but you still suck. Its really a demoraliser for the shooters before they even step into the range. Some kind of a prep-talk.

On my part, i think that the crucial factor now is confidence. Like Mr. Lum said, "Don't worry about your score, do your ability." All of us here can easily score a 9 (for AR ppl i suppose). Maybe the lack of trainings didn't give us the confidence that we can actually do it. lol... We can make it to top 4!!! Cheers!

It must have been a good experience for all of us, especially the 2 juniors we have there. I must really applaud them for their enthusiasm towards the competition and the club. If it continues, they might be well on their way towards representing college in future competitions. (and also seniors in future outings)

I would guess confidence applies in other areas as well. People really do give up without even trying because they think its hopeless when actually, its not as bleak as it seems. (especially studies lol)

On a lighter note, there'll be a series of training starting from this thursday (both official and unofficial). If only we had more intensive training haha (although i missed a lot of training but hey, i had valid excuses!). Hopefully our juniors will be blessed with more trainings! Oh should really wake up his idea.

Speaking of J1s, is it just me or is it that the j1s don't really have much training scheduled for them this holidays? I roughly remembered touching the gun a few times during last year's june break. Forgive me for saying this, but its just another flop of another planning com in another part of jj. Sue me.

Yoohoo~~!!! (echoes back). Haha, i doubt anybody will flame me anyway, great minds think alike. Its hard for any constructive comments to go around when everybody's looking but not saying anything. Its starkingly stale in here. I demand for something new :p

Its hard to live by a perfectionist.

Today, my mum asked me. "So when's NS coming?", followed by "What do you intend to do about your studies" shortly after. What disturbed me were the answers though. Since i'm about to head home for a session of games, i answered curtly, " soon loh, only about 8 months ahead" and " of course all As la ".

What an irony, I answered all that without much thought, but as i'm walking away, my mind became a maelstrom. Thoughts came fluttering by, and were dismissed equally quick. I briefly recalled saying the same things a year ago around the 1st 3 months in jc (or is it after) to a few friends. We said we'll score well in any jc. Apparently, and most disturbing, only a few had kept to their word. Then came in an angry thought, would i be content if i didn't get As? Obviously not.

Next came an obscure thought. No doubt, most people (in my school) SHOULD have had the same thoughts as me. I almost laughed when i thought of that. Thinking of the past few day's events, their actions just doesn't seem to follow through with their thinking. They would rather waste their time doing some idle chat or 'stoning' somewhere than committing themselves to something productive. And they complain that they don't have enough time.

Procrastination, the killer of dreams no doubt. Killed many a people's dream in jj. (maybe its exaggerated, but hey, i bet some people deserved something better) Maybe i'm a perfectionist. Maybe i'm not the organiser or lecturer or something, but i find it truthfully awfully pissifying to have someone waste precious time. Be more serious in your work. Freaking school had only started on the options for some subjects while many others at the top had already finished and begun their revision. Lets not talk about 'higher end schools', even pj had completed their syllabus for some of their subjects (can't remember, hopefully my friend isn't bragging haha).

Speaking of a comparison between them, there's really nothing to compare. They win hands down, physically or mentally. Life just isn't fair. Sadly, not many had realised the subtle truth that they are really way behind of the pack and there really isn't much time left in jjc for them to work hard in. How time flies.

Even sadder, some of the teachers doesn't seem to realise this fact. Azmi (i won't hesitate to point fingers) stilled talked crap with his class before the june holis, spending 2 whole fucking periods doing nothing when he should be going throught the chemistry practicals (or smth productive). Then comes along Cheng Leng, who's aim is to help u get a C for "A" levels. 3 Cs won't get you anywhere. There's even going to be a change in JC2 Physics teachers because some NIE newbies will be coming to teach J1s. Good morning Chee Wei Wei. Good Bye Physics.

Saddest of them all, is the students themselves. Its still fun and games for a lot of them. I still remember being roused from my sleep to fall back to sleep again at another place, only to go back to the original place to sleep again. How very productive. Fancy doing that all the time, and your days will be gone sooner then you all can ever imagine.

Ah damn, seemed to get irritated with many things nowadays. I'm just too much of a perfectionist with other people and not with myself. Its not like i don't have any flaws. I can't get angry just because things don't go my way. Thats why you don't see me blowing my top often. I just can't stop but feel irritated by someone's stupidity, then pause then think about how stupid i am to be blown away by other people's stupidity, when they don't even show that they give a flying f*** about themselves. ZZZ

Hopefully what i wrote can wake some dreamers up and push some slackers going. Sue me for writing something like this, but its not far from the truth, so think twice if you ever decide to flame. Then again, people do not practice what they preach, do they? Someone help me? XD

Contrary to most people, I think that the 'JJ's Sports Carnival' was just a little short of a total washout. Only the efforts of the competitiors prevented it from receiving the grand award of a total flop. I had to admit that the events brought a heart throbbing experience, especially with some very close races and to see friends running. Sadly, those were just about the only satisfying moments in the entire sports meet.
Its was screwed right from the start. From the moment they decided to put it on friday, right after the common tests of J2s and right before the common tests of J1s. From the weather. From the rehearsal. From the commentators. From everything.
To me, there doesn't seem to be much of a planning process in the whole provoking event. Not enough competitors to gather for the march pass even after a rehearsal, which i don't see the point in having. No preparation work done by the commentors, making mistakes in reading out names of events and timings. Using silly 'scare tatics', in which no one is at the very least bothered or intimidated. What more could seriously happen? It makes people's toes laugh to know that there's a school event like this. It doesn't seem like more then half the school cohort is there, with people walking out openly during the meet. How hilarious.
JJ's always screwed up, in one way or another in almost everything. Haha! Maybe JJ's admin can just take a break or something and try again some other time since they keep messing things up. Please don't screw this batch of J2s any further. Go get a Kit-Kat.

Sports carnival today was quite tolerable because I was involved in it. Hahahaz... The intense competition during races, the nail-biting moments and certainly the swear-worthy moments were abound. Watching the races might make you want to yell with hope or frustration at your fellow house mates. Have you ever felt when you're in the midst of a keen competition and the adrenaline pumping through your system, threatening to rip your heart apart ? This cannot happen in air rifle though, will seriously screw up stability. HAHahahz. Heart thumping upon your chest will cause the gun to move back and forth, causing panic and who knows what in the mind. So in the true spirit of sports, losses should be accepted graciously and wins should be humbly accepted. Blame, well, it could be placed in team competitions (which we only saw today) but finger pointing should not only be restricted to others. If a team loses, everyone is to be blamed. Yes Owens lost the girls' fartlek badly, and I think it was partly due to the fall (literally) or the ball dropping of one or two or the stumble at the start. Every little thing contributes to the loss of time. But really, would you think "why didn't I run faster ?" or "why didn't i start off earlier ?". Self blame is inevitable but don't be too hard on yourself yea ? Actually shouldn't really blame others coz everybody screws at one point or another, just that they screw on that day. ahhahz.. Guilty of shifting some blame though, perhaps I should go reflect more. hahahz

Oh by the way, the school is blardy doltish. They didn't allow us to go out of school during the lunch break before the sports day and yet they left the gates wide open slightly before and during the sports meet. Huh ? Why don't they just let us out for lunch outside school or something ? It really was our problem if we left and didn't come back since they said we would be in deep shit if we do. By doing this, are they implying that they are not really going to do anything to us if we skip this since they are keeping us locked like animals ? Why didn't they think of that ? I had an urgent errand to run and had to sneak out with the help of my teacher telling the guard a white lie. hahahz.. Opps... made a teacher lie for me, so damned guilty. HAHAHz... But really, they should at least let us have more freedom and perhaps suffer the consequences of our actions, people will learn that way. And by leaving the gates open, people would just walk out during the sports meet despite the shoutings of the guard. Hahahahz... Moral of the story ? Open the gate during appropriate times.

Sorry for the hiatus from blogging in the rifle blog, there's nothing much to say. hahaz... Anyway, the impending sports meet could be quite boring because there will only be relays. Individual events are cancelled because of the fear of track people taking over (which is quite true because they trained for this). The field events were cancelled also, for reasons unbeknownst. Surely this is cramping talents that are not in the track and field team. What a waste of talents when sports meets are supposed to be a showcase of talents and the discovery of new ones. Whatever. I look forward to the Olympic games.. hahaz.. Rox. Hope the sports meet will be short. A quick death is better than a slow, painful one.

This is our last year together and really hope that we can have the time of our lives during the camp ! Oh yea, expect all of you to leave something in my autograph book ! hahahz... I wonder what life would be like without air rifle. Truly boring I reckon. No more trainings with you crappy people, no more hogging of lanes, no more stuffy range, no more standing in front of the fans and blowing our hair messy and certainly no more of our guns which we held on to like our spouses for about a year. Will not get to use our lousy lockers, smell the pellets, count the scores on our cards and will not get to slack around the range talking nonsense. Sad when you think about it in terms like that.

and tth, i think what you're suffering from is stress. hahahaz.. or the withdrawal from it.

by G!M @ 5/21/2004 01:14:00 am

Warning. Low level of activity detected in the blog. Blog Name changing to Wei Bin & TTH's blog in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1........Initializing.........CANCELLED!! HAHA!
Wow, the last post that people posted, other than me and TTH, is on april 28th. Of course, i attribute the low number of posts to the mid year common tests which had just ended. HOPEFULLY they used the extra time to mug for the test. Good luck for the results people, and whatever results you get, life goes on...hopefully you don't get to spend part of your holidays studying in school :p
Here's the catch, friday's jj's sports carnival. What a good timing, just right after the end of the common tests when everyone (i presume) have no intention of wasting time in school and every intent on having the extra long week end which could provide a good and well deserved break from school.
Actually, a sports carnival is not really that bad a thing, if only had it been planned as a real sports meet. There's only team events, which makes people wonder "Where's the 100m race?" (or the 400m, or in fact, all individual events)
Conclusion? JJ planning commitee sucks, always choosing the wrong dates for events (like love fiesta), and just having plain retarded mentalities. Whats the reason for not having individual events? Oh, because we don't want people who are good to hog the medals. What a dumb excuse. Please also give a reason why you're not rotting at home.

Just to add on to the kowbeh's comments, talent time wasn't really that shoddy, some performances are really nice but the results aren't really that appealing. Truthfully, Geok lan and jiarong/jasmine should have won, in my very own humble opinion. Oh well...
What really infuriated me was how ineffiecient and inflexible the admin was. I guess they don't really take feedback well and improve or the people just plain can't multi-task or whatever. To think that they can come up with some fanciful idea like "No booking of seats for people who turns up late". Like everyone else are not booking seats. Please use some brains and think of some ideas that are feasible and will WORK, if the stupid admin even have a miniscule part to begin with.
Oh no, thats not the worst, some basket arrogant teacher (in charge of scholars?) even chased people out. Why? Because they were there early and ticket collections haven't started, it would cause things to get messy. Is that really the best that the teachers can do? To avoid any topsy-turviness?In fact, there are a lot of such people (especially staff in jj), so much so that nothing can really be done to remedy the situation. Zzz. Please try harder.

I prefer simplicity. Simple in a sense that people just be who they are and do not try to hide behind every dumb wall they can find (and no, i'm not hiding behind the computer screen). Putting up a facade (especially a 3-sided one, you'll understand if u know who i'm talking about) for other people to see is just too energy consuming and simply inefficient. When You do not get what you really want, you go kick a humongous fussball about it. Like who gives a damn.

A lot of students in jj are always getting rather poor results, and a 'small percentage" gets horrendous results. Sometimes i wonder whether is it the student's academic abilities that is the problem or is it the teacher's teaching capabilities or is it that jj students just don't study. I remember my chemistry teacher telling us, "You are responsible for you passing the subject, the teachers are here to help u get an A."
So, i guess it a combination of them all? Some people get negligent teachers...some can't catch up because its too 'fast' while some couldn't even be bothered to do anything about it.
For the part about teachers, while some are really good (which i admire them a lot), there are those who suck to the core of the core, and they also possess crocodile's skin to boast that their students do well. I don't know whether is it they are arrogant or plain ignorant, but its damn pissifying. I really can't imagine under what grounds did the admin allow them teach j2s, where it is the most critical of years. zzz
For those people who can't catch up or can't be bothered, i guess its time to pull your act together. Midyears will arrive in a blink of an eye and if you ain't prepared, you might be caught unaware. Heres a piece of my mind, don't depend on teachers. If your teachers are superb, good for you then. At least in the case where they suck, you won't get affected much. :/ Good luck to all. roger out

OOo, the anxiety sets in as the results for Project Work is set to be released tomorrow.I can't help but recall my group, which has the worst possible combinations with a chance of 1 in god knows what. Recalling how we screwed up during the presentation, I dread going to school tomorrow. I can't stand having to gather and listen to a talk while they drag the time. I could almost always hear my pulsating heart beat every so loudly with every passing second. Whatever the case, nothing's gonna change my belief that PW is one of the many major screwups from the MOE. It shouldn't even be introduced into the JC system in the first place. Anyway, good luck to all candidates tomorrow. Hug buddha tightly tonight.

Second round of trials. I did not even notice that that guy who gave me a "fantastic" impression did not get through. When he turned up yesterday, I looked for his name but could not find it. Alas ! He was not chosen for this, but Mr Oh happened to be there (dammit) and let him have a second shot at getting in. Pure interest ? yea hope so. Well, I would not comment on his attitude anymore, lest I get accused of slandering him. =X

In response to the lecture by Mr Oh on the CDANS results. Talked about what could have been but there is nothing we could do about it right now because we cannot change the past. Promises (?) about getting top few might not be kept because results on competition day can be absolutely unpredictable. About the thing about rifle boys not shooting well and the general arrowing on "bad" shooters. Well, there's no such thing as lousy shooters, just lack of practice. (That's what I think) Unfortunately, Mr Oh likes to judge people by their results which is quite unfair. But on the other hand, what else can he judge us on ? And about who's gonna shoot for competition, I don't think he should like, mention names right now or even remotely say who MIGHT and might not shoot. Totally misleading and demoralizing.

hahahz.. Have fun =)

Afterall, you can only have fun when you're young. Please don't do that when you're old and creaking. muahahaz... Don't worry, you'll stay young as long as you hang out with the ar ppl. =) We are the elixirs of youth ! hahaz.. okok shall stop crapping.

- Happy birthday to Candice !!
by G!M @ 4/11/2004 09:22:00 pm

Today was a memorable day. Besides having to grace our loss @ the cdans competition and going to support those who have succeeded, I'm also impressed by the brillant performance put up by those shooters who went to shoot in the electronic range today. One fine day i might be the one impressing you at the electronic range. heh
What makes today truely amusing was rather, what happened after the shoot. Today saw the dawn of a simple plan masterminded by a sinister being. Since everyone else had no strong criticism about it and it won't do us any harm as long as it remains under HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL conditions, we decided to go on with it. The result? Whoa, its just too explosive, with sparks flying all over the place, shots fired at one another, insults hurled at each other and laughter bursting in the end. Want to know what happened? Its laser quest!!! HAHAHA!! (Pun intended, i know, i'm just being very lame. Who cares, i'm just too bored. Those who were there would truely understand the implications of what really happened :x)
Anyway, after we all parted and went about our own ways, I found out that its Candice's birthday tomorrow! Happy birthday girl! I could have imagined what we could have done should we have known about it. Tth would have stayed and the whole gang would secretly buy a cake to present a lovely surprise to Candice. I could almost imagine her licking the plastic knife with that gleeful look which was always on her face when she was happy. Of course, its much too late for regrets now, since its over already. If not, I swear we would have taken pictures on railway tracks. (I know its out of point..but whatever). Anyway, happy birthday and stay childish always! XD

At last i'm in.... this blog invitation has cause much problems... thought of giving up already.... sad to say but the trial today was disappointing.. very little j1s. to many empty lanes.. altought some of them are really interested in ARC, but they lack the 'talent' oops... hehe.

Cdans finals tomorrow. just want to say all the best to da ren and edna.. see u guys tomorrow.

Finally! A much needed break from school(currently posting from a friend's house...overnighting hahaha!)! Just can't stand school, its so frustrating, keep falling asleep even though i tried extremely hard not to. The air-con just provides too conducive an environment for sleeping...and the blue chair haha! Even in days when i sleep considerably earlier, i still fall aslp on the subsequent days.
How i wished i was there to witness the j1 trials and not go to that time wasting CMPB, where i witnessed some 'bigshot' aunties trying to defend their sons. I would rather have spent my time doing something unproductive, like sleeping. Its rather infuriating and irritating since they delayed the time by quite a bit and caused me to have to wait longer.Anyway, it'll be another long month before i get my medial classification. Oh how efficient is CMPB...
Anyway, i had hoped to had a glance @ my future AR juniors ( and maybe see if theres any noticable ones among the lot...which i can doubt so). I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that there won't be too many trials for the j1s, since it would mean less training for us j2s, which we desperately need at this moment of time. Anyway, hope that everything will change for the better after the holidays..so, happy holidays people! May the shot get the better of you.

- Holidays anyone?
by Elfie @ 4/09/2004 03:09:00 am

The first trial is over ! hahaz.. The turnout was not very good though, expected more. Anyone knows why the turnout for this and fun shoot was so... miserable ? I think we had throngs of people last year during fun shoot, but now, it was rather slow moving and there were empty lanes. A lot of my friends who came last year did not come again this year. I wonder why.

Back to the trials, the J1s that were here, well, can be said to be quite genuinely interested in joining ARC. Think it's quite sad, to have people sign up and not turn up for trials (either they forgot, don't know or signed for the sake of signing). Saw quite a lot of people who had different attitudes towards shooting and am quite sad to say that though some have a positive attitude towards shooting (the eagerness to learn and the attentiveness to the instructor), they might not have the physical abilities to shoot properly that day. They had the potential given their attitudes but unfortunately we do not select people based on that. On the other hand, I had one arrogant guy (you probably heard me complain about this one) who had a rather bad attitude because he apparently cannot wait to prove himself and hence did not want to listen to me. I asked if he had shot before and he said about 1 year ago (1 year is enough to forget A LOT of stuff), I taught him normal procedures and stuff but he was impatient. Unfortunately,( or is it fortunately for the club?) he was quite good. His grouping was quite close but my impression of him dipped to a nought and am hoping to high heavens that either he does not get into the club or someone will teach him a lesson on being humble. Such a nerd, check out his glasses next time. Muahahaz !! Okok I’m evil... The range was practically empty most of the time, leaving us much time to slack, talk rubbish and have some fun shoot among ourselves. Ahhahaz.. Funz !

Happy holidays people !!

Lol, so much talk but sad to say, there still won't be much training scheduled in the weeks (at least this week) ahead. If only some people have as much passion to the cca as the shooters themselves have to shooting. (You guys know who i'm talking about..) Only then can the shooters get the sessions we so desire. There's really no point in having a hot, fiery, burning passion when there's no means of expressing it (in this context, shooting). As far as *ahem* remains undedicated to the cca, the dream of people saying "Whoa, jj's here" remains a rather distant prospect (I would rather they say 'whoa, weibin's here' though =p)

Fear naught! when there's a will, there's a way, somehow.... Zz

hahahz.. After reading those posts, can't help but marvel at all your prodigious talent in the use of English. wahhaz.. good good.. people will then be awed at the rifle blog (don't mind me calling it rifle blog =) somehow shooting blog sounds stupid and rifle and pistol blog is too much of a mouthful) and perhaps wonder if this is truly a rifle blog or English society blog. muahaha !!

It's about Passion. hahaz.. Passion of learning, passion of getting top grades and of course, passion for shooting. (there is also the passion of the christ though some of us can't catch it) Well, perhaps not all of us have the passion to shoot, but I can safely say most of us have. Not just for the sake of gaining cca points, I guess many wants self-improvement. But really, all we gotta do now is to train like never before, with this newfound passion, so that we can shoot beyond what we are now. Soar above the rest ! I totally agree with xiwen's vision, to have people say "whoa JJ" with the tremor in their voice. No, not because the range is freezing or have a fishbone stuck up their throats, but with a certain apprehension and trepidation. With the possibility of JJ giving them a beating and the stress of seeing our serious and intimidating faces. (please don't act professional and misfire though) What ?! CJ with their "garang guni" gear beating us ? haiz.. But no matter, there are other competitions. Yes, not just between other schools, but within ourselves, to get to represent the school. This should be stressing enough yea ? So let's get about improving ourselves and not just care about that score which comes with every shot.

Right now I just feel like shooting. Don't know why. Will rather have intensive trainings than to stone and get lousy. For those who shot on Sunday, please do not be too sad, or think of what could have been. Disappointing things happen but yea, they're part and parcel of life. ahhaz.. I'm not gonna philosophy about life so don't worry. So all the best and may u all shoot better than what you last shot !

I wonder what our new juniors will be like. ahhaz.. Cannot wait for rifle camp !

I guess its kind of distraughting to always have your standard then drop below your expectations during competitions, but i think its what u get from it that matters. For me, i learned something new about handling my rifle. Did you? XD
